Types of Amusement in Sheridan

Regularly rated as a top western town in America, Sheridan, Wyoming offers visitors a truly immersive western experience. With a variety of seasonal activities centering on western and outdoor life, visitors to the town are sure to have an authentic experience whenever they visit.
Summer rodeos
Summer is rodeo season in Sheridan. Visitors to the town can choose from four rodeos. The largest rodeo is the Sheridan WYO rodeo. This week-long event each July features competitions between world champion riders, a carnival and several concerts. The mid-summer Sheridan County Rodeo features local talent competing for prizes in over twenty-four events. For budding cowboys, the Elks lodge sponsors the Elks Youth Rodeo each summer. Finally, the Don King Days rodeo, the finale of the summer rodeo season, is a two day event featuring polo, steer roping, bronco riding and wild cow milking.
Fall events
Fall visitors can take advantage of some of Sheridan's other seasonal offerings. In the fall, visitors can take a day trip into the nearby Big Horn Mountains to see the tree leaves changing colors. This is also a great time of year to view wildlife; animals in the area move from the mountains into the surrounding valleys during the fall.
Winter activities
In the winter, visitors can take the Christmas Stroll: a tour of the downtown district decorated for Christmas season. The tour operates from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve and features Christmas carols, horse drawn wagons and Santa Claus. To help visitors warm up, the Holiday Open House at the Trail End historic site offers refreshments and live entertainment on the first weekend in December.
