Local Sheridan Authors

Is Sheridan really the best place to live in the west? Many seem to think so, and many aspiring authors got their starts from this lovely town. Find out which local Sheridan authors have been published and what the titles of their works are.
Bob Wakefield
Bob Wakefield is a retired journalism professor, earning a BS in journalism from the University of Wyoming in 1967, as well as a master's degree and doctorate in journalism and communication from the University of Colorado in 1976. After working in radio and becoming the public relations director for the Colorado Credit Union League, he served as news director for K2-TV in Casper. He taught journalism at several colleges until he retired. Wakefield also founded Wellington Press to publish "Milward L. Simpson: The Fiery Petrel" and other books related to Wyoming.

Cynthia A. Georgen
Cynthia Georgen is a graduate of Sheridan High School. After attending Northwest College and the University of Wyoming, she spent several years in the broadcasting, journalism and publishing fields. Georgen currently serves as historic program manager for the Trail End State Historic Site in Sheridan and has served on the boards of several museum, history and tourism-related organizations.

Pat Blair and Dana Prater
Local authors Pat Blair and Dana Prater wrote the book "Sheridan, Images of America: Wyoming." This book approaches the unique history of Sheridan from two different perspectives. For over 11 years, Blair was a reporter for the Sheridan Press and Prater is the director and curator of the Sheridan County Historical Society Museum. The book includes a number of images of Sheridan's history.
Tourists love Sheridan, Wyoming, whether they are firing up their snowmobile, taking a Christmas stroll or attending a big west art festival. In turn, Sheridan loves its tourists, and its citizens enjoy creating literature based on the history and events in Sheridan.
